Everything you need to know about datly.

📝 Create a poll

Click Create poll in the navigation — no account required. First choose the poll type:

🗳️ Date poll

You set the options: pick days on the calendar and choose all-day or add one or more time slots per day. Participants then vote Yes / Maybe / No on each option.

📅 Free day picker

You only enter a title — participants choose their own available days on a two-month calendar and can even propose new days or time slots that others react to.

Details & sharing

  • Title (required) and an optional description.
  • Optional deadline — after it, no more votes are accepted.
  • Optional notification email to be informed about new votes.
  • After creating you get a participation link to share and a secret admin link — keep it safe!

🗳️ Voting

Open the participation link and enter your name. Guests also enter an email address — it is the identity anchor used to deliver your personal edit link and any notifications. Logged-in users don't need to enter an email.

⚡ Quick Vote

The best-matching dates appear as cards at the top. Tap a card and the form is instantly pre-filled with "Yes" for that date — submit with a single click.

📅 Free day picker

Click days in the calendar to mark yourself available. Colours: green = everyone can, yellow = some can, purple = your own selection. You can also propose additional days or time slots.

Changing your vote

Use the personal edit link from your email, or — if logged in — just reopen the poll with your account. Past dates are hidden automatically.

Results & final date

  • Best dates: the top options where the most (or all) participants said yes — shown as chips.
  • Overview grid: who can attend when, at a glance.

🎉 Set the final date

The admin picks the winning date. Then: everyone with an email is notified instantly, the poll closes, a green "Date confirmed" banner appears, and a calendar file (.ics) can be downloaded — compatible with Outlook, Apple, Google, iOS and Android.

When a poll expires: with a single option it is confirmed automatically; with several, the admin gets an email to choose.

⚙️ Admin features

Open your secret admin link to manage the poll:

  • Set final date, view the results grid and best dates.
  • Close / reopen the poll, CSV export, and delete.
  • Send a reminder, edit the poll & options, and edit votes — available while the poll is open.
  • Personal edit links for guest participants, to pass on so they can change their vote.

A closed poll must be reopened first before editing — this keeps results consistent.

👤 Account & benefits

You never need an account to create polls or vote. A free account simply adds convenience:

  • All your polls in one dashboard, with permanent access — no links to remember.
  • Vote without re-entering your email each time.

datly is free, ad-free, no tracking, GDPR-compliant, hosted in Germany, and fully available in German and English.
